No fuel left
\nThe fuel tank should be emptied before the winter break, because fuel residue loses its combustibility over time, so if fuel is left in the tank there may be problems starting up in spring. If there is still fuel left after making the last cut of the season, it is advisable to allow the lawn mower to idle until the engine comes to a stop of its own accord.<\/p>\n
Checking the oil level
\nIt’s important to check the oil level before the winter break too, but unlike fuel, the oil level should be topped up. This is because the machine must be in full working order at all times. If necessary an oil change should be carried out or assistance may be requested from your Approved Dealer. In any case remember to follow the Instruction Manual and to use the recommended high-quality oil.<\/p>\n
Cleaning up
\nIt’s important to clean your lawn mower thoroughly after the last cut of the season. Grass residue adhering to the housing can be removed with a wooden or plastic spatula. Ensure there is no grass in the cooling fins or exhaust area, as this could be a fire hazard. Clean the lawn mower with a brush and water. A garden hose can also be used as an aid to cleaning.
\nCaution: Do not use a powerful jet of water on the bearings, gaskets or engine parts as damage to the machine may occur.
\nTo remove dirt from the underside of the machine, tilt the machine backward so that the spark plug points upward. If the machine is tilted sideways oil may enter the air filter or the exhaust, with the risk of damage occurring.<\/p>\n
Final check
\nCheck that the mowing blade is undamaged before using it for the first time in spring. If there are any cracks or notches in it, it must be replaced straight away by an Approved Dealer. Otherwise it is advisable to remove the blade and sharpen it, or have it sharpened and balanced by a specialist. It is also advisable to repeat this procedure after about every 25 hours’ operation to maintain optimum mowing performance.<\/p>\n
Correct storage
\nOnce all the maintenance jobs have been completed the lawn mower should be stored under cover in a dust-free, dry place. The storage position is the normal position. Important: lawn mowers with a starter battery must be stored in a frost-free environment.
